Phenie's Shakes & Pancakes in Brühl

"We shared pancakes per couple - we were 8 people ordering 4 pancakes. We received 4 forks+knives and 4 spoons. We asked for 8 forks instead of 4 forks and 4 spoons (as we were 8), but they said it is not allowed in their restaurant (?!). All in all the food was good, but this stupid rule amazed us"

"We went there during our lunch break, and as another reviewer mentioned, the portion sizes are simply too large. We're not "big eaters" in the American-style all-you-can-eat sense, it was just too much food. We ordered two shakes and two pancake meals for a table of four (two adults and two children), and not a single item was finished. It ended up being mostly food waste, which feels unfortunate, especially knowing the staff put so much care into preparing these meals and shakes. That said, the quality of the ingredients was excellent. The presentation, like the shake decorated with frozen chocolate, nuts, and M&M’s, was top-notch. The pancakes were beautifully served too. It’s just a shame that so much ends up being thrown away. Perhaps offering "half-size" portions could be a solution? For example: one pancake meal came with eight pancakes, four would have been more than enough. We didn’t see a single table finish everything. At the end, the waiter kindly asked if we wanted to take the leftovers with us, but that’s not very practical when you’re in a theme park. We even saw another table where each person ordered both a pancake dish and a shake. I imagine they’re still sitting there trying to finish it all ;) It's suicide to go there as a afternoon snake imho."

"Nice big portions you feel like a kid again trying to conquer this big pile of sweet tasty pancakes, while enjoying the atmospbere of the restaurant matches the park. We were served by a very friendly woman who took the time to show us where we could find online foto's of the dishes because i was so curious. Another member told us it was forbidden to film (it was at the entrance and small part of the counter) but foto's were allowed. Prices are not cheap but it's in range with other parks and you definitely get a lot of food and creativeness in place"

"Saranno anche enormi le porzioni ma non capisco alcune recensioni negative al locale. Sia i pancakes sia i milk shake sono spaventosamente abbondanti e buonissimi e dolcissimi. E se non riesci a finire i pancakes ti portano anche la doggy bag. Il locale è arredato con colori pastello e con fantasie davvero belle. Il personale è stato gentile e cordiale. Sicuramente i prezzi sono un pò alti, ma la quantità di cibo che ti arriva è commisurata al costo. C'è sempre la possibilità comunque di prendere un solo piatto e dividerlo in due. Promosso a pieni voti!"

"Phenie's is getting a bit of a bad rep for massively oversized portions and no option of sharing food, but both points seem to have been addressed. Portions are still quite large, but the ones me and my friends got looked notably smaller than those on previous pictures. Still a challenge for a single person, but doable for a strong eater. I would still recommend getting one serving for two people - while we weren't given additional forks and knifes, an additional spoon was provided and worked just fine. Be careful with the shakes though. Those aren't just drinks, they're full meals, more so than even the pancakes. We got one for four people and it was the biggest challenge on the table. For keeping the large portions in mind and preparing accordingly, you get a breathtakingly whimsical atmosphere, friendly staff and a meal straight from a kid's cartoon, as gorgeous to behold as it is deliciously sweet to taste. Frankly, the smells from the kitchen alone are worth the visit. Best pancakes I've had by a long shot."

"The pancakes here are amazing, loads of options and HUGE portions. Quite expensive but not for the amount you get. However since the portions are so big I do reccomend sharing, I saw it somewhere online before I went so I'm glad I knew, because I wouldn't have been able to eat this all by myself. When we asked if we could share however (the staff didn't speak english) they said we could but only if one person ate with just a spoon instead of normal cutlery? Not sure why, I'm assuming it's to encourage you to order per person. Besides that it was great tho."
